The ABA, Section of Litigation Intellectual Property Litigation Committee invites you to the First Annual Intellectual Property Litigation Committee Regional CLE Workshop.  We have assembled an exceptional, diverse and well-rounded group of moderators and panelists, including private practitioners, government attorneys and law professors, to discuss various hot topics in the area of intellectual property litigation.

Highlights:
Lunchtime address: The Honorable Randall R. Rader, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Panel discussions:

  • Recent Supreme Court and other decisions discussing the distinction between a sale and a license of copyrighted works and the related applicability of the first sale doctrine;
  • Types of monetary damages and other relief available in trademark infringement cases (apart from preliminary and permanent injunctions, which are commonly sought);
  • Recent developments in patent litigation in the Supreme Court, Congress and the Federal Circuit, including the patent reform legislation currently being considered by Congress;
  • Recent developments in the area of trade secrets and non-competes, including the use of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act to remedy the theft of information.

This is a terrific opportunity to network with intellectual property litigators from all over the United States during the workshop and at the cocktail reception immediately following the workshop.

MCLE Credit:
5.00 CLE general credit hours (based on a 60-minute hour; 6.00 CLE credit hours based on a 50-minute hour) have been requested for this program from every state with mandatory continuing legal education requirements for attorneys. Please be aware that each state has its own rules and regulations, including its definition of CLE as well as ‘Ethics’. Therefore, certain programs may not receive credit in some states. Please check with your state agency for confirmation of general as well as ethics approval for any program.
