Program Overview:
This teleconference will feature a one-on-one conversation with Fred Burnside, who until January 2011 served as the director of EPA's criminal enforcement division. In this position, Mr. Burnside was responsible for setting enforcement priorities and overseeing the work of close to 200 criminal agents investigating environmental crimes throughout the nation. This teleconference offers a unique opportunity to hear about EPA's criminal enforcement program from a high ranking government official with detailed knowledge of how the program operates. Mr. Burnside will provide his insight into what EPA looks for in investigating environmental crimes, how best to approach the agency while an investigation is pending, and how to avoid running afoul of environmental regulators in the first instance.
