The ABA Standing Committee on Bar Activities and Services is delighted to offer five scholarships to help presidents-elect and other upcoming leaders of small bar associations attend the ABA Bar Leadership Institute (BLI) in Chicago, March 11-12, 2010. The scholarships consist of a registration waiver and a $500 reimbursement of meeting and travel expenses.
BLI Scholarship Application
Application deadline is Friday, January 8, 2010.
Criteria for Eligibility:
Preference for ABA BLI scholarships will be given to applicants who meet the following qualifications. Applicants must meet the first criterion listed below. Applicants are not required to satisfy the other four criteria but the Scholarship Committee will consider them as they evaluate the applications.
1. Applicant’s bar association is unable, due to budget size or specific circumstances, to fully fund applicant’s attendance at the 2010 BLI.
2. Applicant is the president-elect or an upcoming leader of the bar association.
3. Applicant has not previously attended the BLI.
4. Applicant has not previously received scholarship assistance from the ABA to attend the BLI.
5. Applicant’s bar association does not send its bar leaders on a routine basis to the BLI. (Routine basis may be defined as annual or bi-annual.)
Those interested in applying for a scholarship must complete the attached ABA BLI scholarship application and return it to Jennifer Lewin, ABA Division for Bar Services, by Friday, January 8, 2010. The ABA Standing Committee on Bar Activities and Services Scholarship Subcommittee will review all applications and select a maximum of five scholarship recipients. Recipients will be notified no later than Wednesday, January 20, 2010.
The subcommittee maintains the right to recruit applicants, without promise of reward, who may satisfy the criteria listed above.
