 CLE

States typically decide whether a program qualifies for CLE credit in their jurisdiction 4-8 weeks after the program application is submitted.  For many live events, credit approval is not received prior to the program.

ABA live, in-person programs ordinarily receive CLE credit in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Virgin Islands, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

The ABA will seek [insert number of general credit hours for 60-minute states] hours of CLE credit [insert the following if the program is requesting ethics credit: (including [insert number of ethics credit hours for 60-minute states] hours of ethics credit)] for this program in 60-minute-hour states, and [insert number of general credit hours for 50-minute states] hours of CLE credit [insert the following if the program is requesting ethics credit: (including [insert number of ethics credit hours for 50-minute states] hours of ethics credit)] for this program in 50-minute-hour states. Credit hours are estimated and are subject to approval from each state.  Click here to view a list of 60- and 50-minute-hour states.

Special rules apply to lawyers from the following states:

Nebraska: You may self-submit this program for CLE approval in Nebraska after attending the program by logging into your personal MCLE account with the Nebraska MCLE Commission. There is no fee for this submission and a response is generally received within 3-5 days.

New Jersey:  You will be eligible for credit for this program under the NJ reciprocity provisions if another state grants credit for it. Please visit the New Jersey MCLE website for more information.

New York: This transitional CLE program is approved for all New York-licensed attorneys in accordance with the requirements of the New York State CLE Board for [insert number of NY credits] transitional MCLE credits [including [insert number of NY ethics credits, if applicable] hours of ethics credit)]. Both experienced and newly admitted attorneys may earn New York credit with this program.

All attorneys may click here to view additional MCLE information for your jurisdiction.

 Course Materials

The Course Materials for each session will be compiled on USB flash drives and distributed at the conference.  Those not attending the conference will be able to purchase the course materials after the conference has ended.  An e-mail containing the link to course materials will be sent out to all registered attendees one week prior to the meeting.

 International Attendees

Individuals are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.

We recommend the following sites for international attendees making travel arrangements to the United States.

Visa Letters

We encourage anyone traveling from outside the U.S., to attend an ABA conference, to verify the requirements to enter the U.S.

We can provide a standard letter from the ABA Section of Antitrust Law confirming the reason you or your guests wish to enter the country and request that a visa be issued promptly.

We are only able to provide visa letters for delegates whose conference registration fees have been paid in full and are not from countries embargoed by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Control. If we have already supplied you with a visa letter for your guest(s) and the name of that guest subsequently changes, we can only provide another visa letter upon receipt of the original letter. The ABA reserves the right to refuse to issue visa letters at its discretion.

The ABA will provide a full refund of registration fees for delegates whose request for a visa was denied.
To obtain a visa letter, please contact us by email at-registrar@americanbar.org with Visa Request in the subject line.
