We are thrilled to announce the agenda for the 2011 Spring Meeting for the ABA TortTrial & Insurance Practice Section’s Property Insurance Law Committee. The topic of the 2011 Spring Meeting is “Litigating the Catastrophic Property Insurance Claim.” As property insurance attorneys, we have all witnessed the unique challenges raised by catastrophic claims. Whether the catastrophe is a weather related event, massive oil spill, or a terrorist attack, the insurance industry is faced with a number of complex issues.
This year’s Meeting will provide you with the tools to effectively litigate these types of claims and also provide an update of other topical issues in the industry.We have lined up a distinguished and accomplished group of speakers for this meeting. Their in-depth analysis will address topics ranging from underwriting property insurance policies in areas prone to catastrophic loss to the legal and practical issues that arise during the adjustment of catastrophic losses. The agenda includes the discussion of a number of topics that are applicable to all types of property insurance claims, including strategies to resolve claims pre-suit, an insurer’s fraud defense, electronic discovery, and ethical considerations involving the handling of experts.
